Ibsen’s Emperor and Galilean closes on Wednesday 10 August.

‘A brilliant rendition of Ibsen's play. Breathtakingly staged.’ Guardian

Andrew Scott and Ian McDiarmid lead a company of 50, charting the true odyssey of one man who could have changed everything forever. Epic staging, large-scale cast and a stunning production. Don’t miss your last chance to see this major play from one of the greatest playwrights of all time.

Raks's take on Emperor and Galilean

As you all know, I am a HUGE fan of this production - it is epic and outstanding. It is much better than Frankenstein - Benedict's performance as the Creature was mind-blowing, but Emperor and Galilean exercises your mind - key themes are friendship, integrity, faith, tyranny and ethics/morality. Andrew Scott puts his life and soul into the part of the Emperor Julian. For the first time in 20 years of London theatre going, I saw this play 3 times in a row last week and I am seeing it again 3 times in a row this week. I have fallen in love with the piece and taken it into my heart. Highly highly highly recommended.

Embarrassingly, for someone who used to be a huge telly addict, because I am now out and about all the time, I have not watched a single TV programme in the last 6 months. I still have not seen The Crimson Petal and the White or any of the new Dr Who. And so, no, I have not yet caught The Hour, althoug Yvaine told me all about it!

I also have a stack of DVDs which I really need to get onto, including The Take, Cambridge Spies, Forty Something, Crooked House, The Seven Per Cent Solution, Another Country, 2 versions of The Merchant of Venice, Looking for Richard ... I think I will stop there!

Better to be out and about enjoying things live! The TV shows will get repeated or put onto DVD, and the DVDs will wait... :-)
