There is a film screening of Dorian Gray at the V&A today and I am going - I thought others might be interested. Although the film did not get good reviews, I think it is very good!

This is an adaptation of Wilde’s chilling gothic novel, starring Colin Firth and Ben Barnes. Introduced by Franny Moyle, biographer of Oscar’s wife, Constance.

I enjoyed this film – Ben Barnes is a very attractive Dorian, if not exactly the 'golden' youth of Wilde's original description. ;-) I also like the old BBC television adaptation starring John Gielgud, Jeremy Brett and the young Peter Firth.

I loved this film - and I am really looking forward to seeing it again.

I have not seen the BBC version - I will have to catch it when it is next on.

I doubt very much that it will ever be on the television again. It's very old – 1976. But it is part of this Oscar Wilde BBC boxed set: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oscar-Wilde-BBC-Collection-Windermeres/dp/B0007LPLQA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307112018&sr=1-1
