Just to prove I don't spend all my time at the National Theatre, this Friday and Saturday I was at the Young Vic watching "I Am The Wind".

The production was outstanding. It only has a week to run so go and see it now! Like In A Forest, Dark and Deep, this is theatre stripped to the bone, which is the way I like it. Two actors, about an hour and a quarter with no interval, a simple and yet highly effective set (brilliant in fact), outstanding and heart-stopping acting - I just loved this!

So what is it about? Cut and pasted from the Young Vic website:

The wind gathers, rising up suddenly. Two men on a fragile boat, a trip to sea - a few drinks, a bite to eat - when one of them decides to push on to the open ocean. Suddenly there they are: among the distant islands, the threatening fog and gathering swell of the sea, bound together on an odyssey into the unknown.

Short extract from the playtext:

The One:
I've gone now
I left with the wind

The Other:
You left

The One:
I've gone (short pause)
I'm not here anymore (breaks off)

The Other:
You're not here

The One:
No I'm not here (short pause)

In fact, I loved this so much I am now going on the closing night - Saturday 21 May 2011 - to see it one final time at 7.30pm.

I have blown out one of the two performances of Third Star I was due to see - I will see Third Star once on Saturday anyway and then I can catch it again over the coming week - priorities!
