Cut and pasted from an email from the National Theatre:

a new play by Nick Dear, based on the novel by Mary Shelley

Frankenstein enjoyed a sell-out run at the National Theatre, and went on to win awards including the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Actor for Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.

First broadcast to cinemas in 2011, don't miss your chance to catch Danny Boyle's electrifying stage production as screenings take place nationwide and around the world.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternated the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature throughout the show's run at the National Theatre - cinemas will offer the chance to see both of these versions.

Raks's Says

Today, Thursday 14 June, Frankenstein will be playing at hundreds of UK cinemas including Picturehouses, Cineworlds, Odeons and Vues. I will be taking up the chance to see the production again, with Benedict playing the Creature, at my usual NT Live venue, the Brixton Ritzy.

And all I can say is ... BRING IT ON! And if, like me, you are seeing Frankenstein today, ENJOY!

Had a weird nightmare about the new venue in my area being little more than a pull-down screen in a village hall, with an audience full of fidgeting adults and wailing kids. I know that's not true! It's a proper theatre. And Frankenstein is rated 15+. Talk about misplaced performance anxiety! In truth I can't wait to hear that bell again... :-)

You are SO funny! I love the idea of NT Live being beamed onto a pull-down screen in a village hall!

And yes ... that bell!
