James Blunt put out this message today:

Hola Bedlamites and Boardies!

Our world tour is over, so I thought I'd write you a little thank you and goodbye note. We've had an amazing time, simply because of you guys turning up and having fun with us.

I've really enjoyed getting up on stage and playing each night. The band and I feel musically closer and tighter than ever before, and it's been fantastic to see what a third album brought to the live show. We've covered so many miles over the past year. As ever, the response in the US, UK, Canada, mainland Europe and Australia is what has kept the tour on the road. You guys have given such incredible support on so many occasions, which has then enabled the tour to go to visit places further afield. And for the places we've only managed to pass by briefly, like South America, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Middle East, the warmth of your welcome will leave us with lifelong memories.

On a musical level, I've got three albums that I love, each with their own personality. I'm going to go away and do some other stuff now. I always have a guitar with me. Maybe I'll write about it. Maybe I won't. Either way, I'll check in occasionally. I wish you well. I have a picture of every audience and a million golden moments engrained in my mind. Thank you so much for sharing it all with me.

Adios y hasta luego!

Raks's Reaction

This quite broke my heart in two! I only discovered James as a "live" experience last year - 2011. Anyway, he was a shooting star who burned with the most amazing brilliance, radiance, and light. He has so much positive energy and love around him that I am 100% sure he will be a great success at whatever he chooses to go on to do. All I can say is, I will miss him truly, madly, deeply; but I wish him the best of luck in whatever he goes on to do. Onwards and upwards!

Oh, that's a surprise. I guess he has other ambitions. But I bet he keeps songwriting and reappears again on tour one day.

James is multi-talented and has many irons in many fires. As he says, he now has three albums under his belt, and he has just completed a huge world tour. He also says he always has a guitar with him, so there is always a chance of an impromptu concert!

I am sure, at some point in the future, he will make some more new music and tour again. But I don't foresee that happening for quite awhile!

I am just glad, that having seen him live in February in 2011 at the Hammersmith Apollo, and having been totally blown away by his live gig (I invented the random tag for him, and described his live gig as "better than Frankenstein"!), I then got to see him two more times live last year. If you had seen just how much energy James uses up in just one of his live gigs, you would know why he now needs a very long rest!

I hope to see him again live one day in the dim and distant future!
