The Half
captivebird wrote in mycroft_brolly

Benedict is featured in a new exhibition of the photography of Simon Annand at the Idea Generation Gallery, London E2. He is captured being made up as The Creature for Frankenstein.

Info found in an article here: http://www.radiotimes.com/

Scroll down to find the article with Benedict's picture under the Brit Awards info. Unfortunately I cannot link directly to the page as it seems to jinx the url every time!

The exhibition is called The Half, and all the photos are of actors preparing for their roles in the last half hour before going on stage.

Annoyingly for me, the exhibition is not open on Saturdays! But it is open every other day of the week from this Friday until 8 April. Read more about it at the gallery site:

Sounds and looks interesting!

OMG! THANK YOU so much for this!

I would never have found out about it - I don't do art, and so I'm not on any art/photography mailing lists - and the exhibition looks fab (not the Benedict photo, just the half-hour before curtain-up concept).

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I am definitely going to go and see this exhibtion!

It's an excellent concept. Even in this little photo of Benedict you can sense an intensity of inner focus – he prepares himself mentally whilst being prepared physically. I hope you'll have some insights to share about the exhibition after seeing more of the work on display in due course. :-)

There's a book you can buy of photo's by the same photographer published in 2010 (I think) on the same subject. It's called "The Half" as well. I've seen it in the shops, but Amazon have the paperback copy for £13. And I think there's another photo of Benedict in there from when he was in Hedda Gabler (might be the wrong play - I haven't actually had a look in the book)

I have no clue how to post links in comments but if you go to Amazon and put in the title it's the first book in the list.
