The Orange British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) will take place tomorrow (Sunday 12 February 2012) at the Royal Opera House in London. The Orange British Academy Film Awards rewards the best work of any nationality seen on British cinema screens during the preceding year and they are the biggest and most important film awards in Britain.

The Red Carpet Show will be screened on BBC3 at 7:30pm, with the main Awards ceremony being screened on BBC1 from 9:00pm onwards. After the television broadcast, the BBC show will be available to watch on iPlayer. For viewers outside of the UK, the programme can be seen internationally in a number of countries.

I have selected below the key categories, listing all the nominees. I have highlighted in bold and underlined those that I am backing!

Topline Summary
Films that I am backing - The Help, We need to talk about Kevin, Coriolanus
Films that I am NOT backing - Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (sorry Benedict!)

What I will say is that I am really disappointed that smaller independent films do not get more of a look in. I am also really disappointed that Coriolanus only gets one nomination. Having seen many of the films that get many more nominations, I can honestly say, with my hand on my heart, that that is a travesty. I also feel that both Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights deserved nominations that, for whatever reason, have just not surfaced here.

Anyway, let battle commence and may the best man win!

The only film I've seen in any of these categories is TTSS and I must admit that, with the exception of Coriolanus, I won't be bothering with any of the others.

I have however seen George Harrison: Living In The Material World, and that was brilliant.

I would nonetheless recommend The Help, We Need To Talk About Kevin, and Beginners. All films that I have seen and that I would happily recommend to others.

I wish I'd seen more of these! Am particularly mad at having missed Coriolanus, My Week With Marilyn and Shame. Of those films that I did get to see last year, TTSS was my personal favourite by far, and I'd like to see it get some recognition overall. There should be an award for best ensemble cast. :-)

Will, like yourself, be rooting for Tom and Eddie equally in the rising star category.

Shame is the one film that I really want to see but have not yet seen. I need to get onto it before it leaves cinemas for good.
