Referee: Nick Perry's claustrophobic drama set in the world of top-flight sport.
Geoff is a football referee at the top of his profession. But after a controversial game, he's heavily criticised and dropped from the upcoming Cup Final. Geoff's frustration builds and his scruples are soon tested.
Andrew Scott's performance as Walter Koch won the 2011 BBC Audio Drama Award for Best Supporting Actor.

I have just listened to it. I don't "do" radio (I have had to create a radio tag specially for this play!), and I don't "do" sport at all, but I still enjoyed the play and could follow the story. The story is not really about sport; it is about temptation, and at what price you compromise on your integrity and sell your soul to the devil. Andrew Scott plays Walter Koch who is, effectively, the devil in this piece.
Recommended. Listen whilst you still have the opportunity!
King James Version (KJV)
Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
