Cut and pasted from Den of Geek!

The finale to series 2 of Sherlock posed viewers one or two head scratchers. Luckily, the internet has risen to the challenge and provided these answers. Massive spoilers ahead...

The round-up is indebted to the tireless work of the commenters on Den of Geek! who have sifted through details to provide theories and observations galore.

Just how did Sherlock pull off the mother of all fake-outs?

Follow the link to find out:

The theories cover:

Molly
The rubbish truck
The cyclist
The screaming girl
Mycroft
Moriarty
Watson

Interested to hear who everyone thinks is right!

And to be even handed, I can't post a photo of a dead Sherlock without also posting a photo of a dead Jim alongside:

Sherlock's fall seems to be explained. I don't think that there was a body swap. John's disorientation caused by The Solitary Cyclist buys enough time for Sherlock to jump into the soft landing of the truck and then arrange himself on the ground. Questions about how he slowed his pulse – the ball in his armpit, or possible self administration of a drug have both been mooted. Molly and various 'helpers' whizz him into Barts so quickly that John doesn't really get a chance to see straight in any case. I think that the screaming girl meaning that there could be a double or at least a mask is a red herring. As is the hanging dummy at 221B.

My main unanswered questions are about Mycroft and Moriarty. At the end Mycroft surely knows that his brother has faked death but did he anticipate or actually, like Molly, help him do it? And is Moriarty really dead? He was clever enough to fake a scene too. I keep hoping that he has pulled a clever stunt as well and Sherlock didn't exactly check his vitals...

My money is on Molly and Mycroft working together to collude with Sherlock in his fake death.

And I am with you on Moriarty ... Andrew Scott is way too good and way too interesting to be killed off here, even if that is true to Canon. I want him, like Sherlock and Lazarus, to come back from the dead!
