55th BFI London Film Festival: Wreckers

Benedict Cumberbatch's new film, Wreckers, gets its UK Premiere at the London Film Festival tomorrow. It is the debut feature from Dictynna Hood and is a haunting tale of secrets and lies in the English countryside. It is here:

In brief, Dawn (Claire Foy) and David (Benedict Cumberbatch) are a recently- married couple who have moved away from the city to the small village where David grew up. Out of the blue, David's younger brother Nick (Shaun Evans) appears. Nick is a soldier on leave. Dawn and Nick start to spend an increasing amount of time together. Gradually, buried incidents from the brothers' shared history start to reveal themselves, forcing Dawn to confront the question of whether she really knows her husband at all.

This sounds as though it is right up my street - I love films that focus on relationships, their fragility, and the schisms that run right through many of them - and I am really looking forward to it. I will be attending and reporting back.
