How Firm A Foundation

Richard Keen

Key verses that spoke to me:

Since Jesus is with you,
do not be afraid;
since he is your Lord,
you need not be dismayed:
he strengthens you, guards you,
and helps you to stand,
upheld by this righteous,
omnipotent hand.

Whoever has come
to believe in his name
will not be deserted,
and not put to shame;
though hell may endeavour
that Christian to shake,
his Lord will not leave him,
nor ever forsake.

1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

... as he embarks on the final four performances of Emperor and Galilean. Its closing night is Wednesday 10 August. I am SO upset that this was not chosen to be an NT Live - It should have been!

This features in Emperor and Galilean. If it is good enough for E&G, it is good enough for The Umbrella Organisation!

Matthew 6: 9-13

9 Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Paintframe, National Theatre

This Saturday, I went to the Paintframe at the National Theatre for the first time. The Paintframe is the NT's new performance space.

I loved it!

It is stunning. Raw. Derelict. Rough. Intimate and personal. Completely different from any of the other performance spaces at the National (although closest to the Cottesloe).

I loved the fact that they had a band on before the show. It made it into a special night and it was great to be able to have a few drinks and mingle with the rest of the audience before the show, with some live music there right in front of you.

So what is on at the Paintframe? Double Feature. There is Double Feature 1 and 2, and both 1 and 2 have two new plays by new writers.

On Saturday I saw Edgar & Annabel by Sam Holcroft and The Swan by DC Moore.

Edgar & Annabel. Political. Dark. Sinister. Thought provoking. Superb. Great acting. I loved it!
The Swan. Gritty. Raw. Real. Funny. Focused on human relationships. Amazing young actors. I loved it!

An added bonus with the Paintframe is that during the interval you can actually watch the crew changeover and transform the set. Which is a great insight into behind the scenes.

The Paintframe. Highly highly recommended. It is genius!
