Jo Brand is lending her support to a charity sleepout in the grounds of Southwark Cathedral on Friday 2 December in aid of the Robes Project.
The only church run winter shelter of its kind between the South Bank and Croydon, the project provides a hot dinner, somewhere to sleep and wash, and a cooked breakfast for up to 15 homeless guests every night between November and April. The project also helps guests find training, jobs and long-term accommodation.
It is run by 19 South London churches, with the aid of 300 volunteers and donations from churches, businesses and individuals.
To keep the shelter open for the whole winter, Robes is asking people to help fundraise by spending a sponsored night sleeping rough in the grounds of the Cathedral.
If anyone can do this, I would encourage them to do so. I cannot as I have already done the Terrence Higgins Walk for Life and the Maggie's Night Hike this year - I really cannot ask people to sponsor me again. However, if you are a Londoner, looking for a good cause to support in the run up to Christmas, this is a very strong contender.
