I saw this exhibtion today and it is excellent. Highly highly highly recommended.
It is free. But it closes on Sunday 20 November (this Sunday) so if you want to see it, go and see it now!
Whilst you are visiting the exhibition, check out the SERCO Pop-Up Art Sale in the White Room in Spirit Level. It has hundreds more artworks from this year's Koestler Awards for sale, ready to take away. There is some great art and sculpture available for sale at very affordable prices. Proceeds from the sale of the artwork are split between the artist, Koestler Trust and Victim Support. It is a great place to go to get unique one-off artpieces for special friends and family in the run-up to Christmas.
Cut and pasted from the Southbank Centre website:
Fascinating in theme, remarkable in artistic quality, and always moving, this is the UK's annual showcase of visual arts, film, music and writing by prisoners and others in secure settings. This year's exhibition is curated by a group of magistrates - a groundbreaking exploration of judgement, art and crime. A partnership between the Koestler Trust, Southbank Centre and the Magistrates' Association.
The exhibition is on Spirit Level and Level 2 Foyers at the Royal Festival Hall and is open from 10am to 11pm daily.
