Actually, I was 100% sure that Benedict would be there. But I was lucky enough to meet him many times during the Frankenstein run, I was at his Frankenstein Q&A with Danny Boyle, and he was kind enough to pop by my closing night party a few times so I am definitely not complaining. I am also very confident that Benedict will be back at the National before too long and so there will be plenty more chances to meet him then. I really can't do that date - I am on a training course run by the National and it includes a theatre trip in the evening. Much as I love Sherlock, I would always rather see live theatre - the actors are performing just for you, the experience each night is unique, and it is just special. So I am happy to let this one go.

I also have to be completely honest and admit that, after the run of Emperor and Galilean, my primary allegiance transferred from Benedict to Andrew Scott. He was just so incredibly charming and delightful at the stage door, to absolutely everyone who came to see him, that I just fell for him 100% (well actually 500%!). I have it on very good authority that I was by no means the only one to fall for his Irish charms!

A training course run by the National sounds like fun. I'm still hoping that both BC and AS will be back at the National next year. Meanwhile I'll be content to admire them equally from afar. :-)
