One Man, Two Guvnors has its final performance at the National tonight (Monday 19 September). I have a ticket - I bought it eons ago, solely off the back of the fact that this was a Nick Hytner production.
My take on it:
I love this production. I can describe it in three short words - fun, fun, fun! I loved the band. I loved the physical comedy. I loved the slapstick. It was very funny. And I loved the surprise right at the end of the first half!
The production has been a sell-out because I think, in these times of economic doom and gloom, people want to go to the theatre and have a good old-fashioned fun and enjoyable night out. This production most definitely delivers on that!
If you have not been able to see it at the National because its run was sold out, do not despair.
