Cut and pasted from the Operation Black Vote (OBV) website:
Operation Black Vote exists to ensure that Black communities have greater racial justice and equality throughout the UK.
They work specifically, but not exclusively, within the democratic and civic framework to deliver their objectives.
They seek to inspire BME communities to engage with public institutions in order to address the persistent race inequalities they face in areas such as education, health and employment.
Their work spans a number of areas including voter registration, lobbying politicians, mentoring schemes and political leadership programmes.
After nearly 15 years of campaigning their voice is now heard at the highest level of Government, both nationally and locally, but perhaps of greater importance is the fact that they are often viewed as a beacon of hope and support for their own communities.
